Pros

  • Fast and Fun Calculator This fast and fun calculator app provides many different functions, won’t hog system resources and works just like any other calculator.
  • Dozens of Unique Skins to Choose From You’ll be able to pick from dozens of different skins that match your personalized style – you can even put in a little work and make your own custom skins.
  • Great Offline Replacement for Google Calculator The standard Windows calculator is fine, but this is more of a fun and personalized offline replacement for Google Calculator.

Cons

  • Very Old Program This program stopped development in the early 2000s, so the GUI and functionality haven’t kept in step with some calculator programs you may have used in the past decade.
  • May Not Work with Newer Operating Systems (Windows Vista+) This app was designed to work with Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows ME. Some users have reported that they were able to get it running with Windows Vista but you’ll have to run the program in compatibility mode and hope it works.

Equalizer is a free and highly customizable calculator app for Microsoft Windows.

If you’ve been looking for an offline alternative to Google Calculator or just want something that replaces Windows Calculator, it’s time to give Equalizer a look.

This calculator app allows you to type out your expressions right into the box (revolutionary for a time when the best calculator apps had to offer was point and click!) like you would on a traditional graphing calculator, making it easy to solve equations fast.

You’re also able to draw graphs right in the app, making it perfect for algebra and geometric applications – and the simplified user interface makes it ideal for beginners just learning how to use graphing functions and more complex expressions.

Another great feature of this app is the ability to truly make it your own! There are dozens of pre-made skins available online for the app that can transform it into anything from a piece of paper to the PADD design from Star Trek. You can also make your own custom skins with some effort, though we think the skins already available cover most of what people would want in an app.

It's important to point out that while Equalizer has a lot of great features and customization options, it stopped being developed in the early 2000s. Some people still use it and even make skins for it, but you might not be able to get this app to run on more modern operating systems (Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10, in particular.) Some users have reported success with using compatibility mode for Windows XP while others haven’t been able to get it running at all.

Aside from some compatibility issues, this classic calculator app for Windows still has a lot of fun features and functionality that make it a decent Calculator replacement even today.
